Swordie
Overview
Swordie was the second character added to RInspired, added on version 0.5.0. He is a sword-wielding, long ranged attacker with a general emphasis on his ability to keep opponents in long strings of attacks. His large hitboxes and strong finishers makes him a good all-rounder character.
Playstyle
His grounded attacks feature some of Swordie's best moves, such as Up-Tilt and Down-Tilt. These moves help knock the opponent upwards for his combos, while his other grounded moves are better at keeping distance.
His aerial attacks are some of his best moves. Up-Air and Forward-Air are notably his prime combo tools for dealing high amounts of damage.
His special moves are niche attacks that serve different purposes. While his Up-Special and Side-Special are more used for recoveries, Neutral-Special is used as a charged shieldbreaker move while his Down-Special is a unique move that lets him use 3 diffrent attacks based on input (either up, down or sideways).
Swordie's throws are straightforward. Down-Throw is a useful combo starter at low percents.
Strengths
- Long-ranged attacks
- Lengthy combos
- Different ways to punish offstage (thanks to his vast selection of spikes)
- Strong killing moves
Weaknesses
- Can rarely end combos in kills
- Linear recovery trajectory
- High endlag on most kill moves
- No projectile; harder neutral game
Competitive notes
Swordie is viewed as a mid tier character, often in the same position as Brawler.
